Double Sided Tape Quality Inspection

June 08,2022

  1. Check the double-sided tape for cracks

During the cutting of double-sided tape, if the cutting tool is not properly adjusted or the blade is not sharp enough, cracks will appear on the surface paper or bottom paper of the double-sided tape, and the fibers pulled out at the cracks will be stuck by the adhesive. The occurrence of cracks may be continuous or random, and may occur on one side or both sides of the double-sided tape on the reel. Therefore, before machining the double-sided tape, be sure to carefully check whether there are small cracks on the bottom paper and the top paper.

Then, take a section of sample paper that has passed the above inspection, peel it on the bottom paper, and check again whether there are cracks on the bottom paper and the bottom paper, because sometimes the cracks are very small, and can be found only after the bottom paper and the top paper are separated.

Double Sided Tape

  1. Check the double-sided tape for burrs

The smooth and undamaged edges of the double-sided tape on the drum are the basis for ensuring the quality of the double-sided tape. Therefore, before processing, it is necessary to carefully check whether the cutting edges of the double-sided tape on the drum have rough edges and whether they are damaged due to improper storage and transportation. In addition, it is necessary to roll down the double-sided tape on the drum for 4-5 circles and carefully check the cutting edges.

  1. Check whether the edges of the double-sided tape are adhered and whether the backing paper is not coated with silicon

The adhesive edge of the double-sided tape or some areas on the backing paper are not coated with silicone oil, which will cause the surface paper to break during waste discharge during the processing process and cannot be produced normally. Therefore, before processing, take a section of self-adhesive material about 1m long and peel it by hand to see if there is any part on the edge or other parts that cannot be peeled smoothly and uniformly.

Generally, the adhesion between the edge of the face paper and the bottom paper occurs on a slitting roll of the whole roll of coated self-adhesive material, and generally only occurs at the outer layer of 7-10 meters. Therefore, if there is adhesion at the edge of the slitting drum double-sided tape, do not immediately assert that the whole roll of paper has this problem.

In addition, it should be noted that the force used to peel the light weight tissue (such as 60g/m2 and 80g/m2 tissue) is greater than that used to peel the heavy weight tissue. The lighter the tissue, the tighter the handle when peeling. Because of this, sometimes the double-sided tape selected by the customer can not be cut at the normal processing speed according to the shape required by the customer.

  1. Check whether the slitting end face of the double-sided tape on the drum is straight and whether the rewinding tightness is consistent

If the slitting end face of the double-sided tape on the drum is uneven, it will not only affect the registration during processing, but also cause waste discharge difficulties due to changes in the die-cutting position; Inconsistent tightness during rewinding will cause the change of paper tension during printing, and uneven tension will also cause printing quality problems.
