What Is the Difference Between Medical Tape and Paper Tape?
January 17,2022
Going to the hospital for infusion is a very common treatment. Have you noticed the tape fixed on our arms? In life, we usually come into contact with transparent tapes, but few people know about medical tapes. So, how are they different?
Medical tape v.s. cloth paper
✔️Medical tape needs better breathability, which regular tape does not. In order to obtain better air permeability, medical tapes are usually in the form of dots, meshes or spaced strips, rather than the full-width coating used in general tapes.
✔️Medical tape requires non-sensitization and biocompatibility, because medical tape is attached to the patient's skin and cannot cause allergic reactions, while ordinary tape does not have this features.
✔️Medical tape requires moderate viscosity, while ordinary tape needs to have strong peel strength. The reason is that when the medical tape is torn from the skin, it cannot feel tingling, but it cannot be non-sticky and falls off the skin, so the viscosity must be moderate.
✔️Medical tape is also stricter in terms of smell and cannot have a heavier smell. Ordinary tape does not have this feature.
It can be seen from this that in the medical industry, all things, no matter how big or small, are the result of excellence. Small medical tapes have so many details. Ordinary tapes do not need to be as precise as medical tapes according to their own needs.
